Q. I have had Norton Anti-virus installed and a new subscription is required. I could not do it by download as I have done in the past. Rather, I had to telephone and order the update, only to learn once the order was placed, the disk would not arrive for seven to 10 days. What should I do in the meantime - Do you have any suggestions?

A. I suggest you use the very good free anti-virus software from http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1. Many readers have reported that they are quite happy with this program as updates occur virtually daily and with the Windows firewall and free anti-spyware software they do not need the full Norton product.

Q. I have bought a new notebook with Windows XP and Word Version 2002. A font I previously used in Word 97 - Broadway - is not included in the new software. I cannot find it in the free downloadable fonts on the internet, but can buy it for $US46. Is there a way I can copy this font between the different versions of Word?

A. Yes, you can easily copy the fonts.. Copy that font from the Windows\Fonts folder into the same folder on the XP computer. Note that you will probably have several variants of that font, such as bold, italic and bold italic. You will need to copy all four files. Simply dragging a font into the Windows\Fonts folder will install that for use with all programs..
